As I have written yesterday, I take part in Blogging University’s Blogging101 course and Photo101. It’s already Day Two of Photo101 and I still hadn’t posted anything about Home… the Day One theme. I had a plan of what to write, but Day Two kicked in and… I decided to combine the two themes due to lack of time.
I would say the whole Earth is my home, but I’m very affectionate of Poland – Warsaw. And especially about Wola, which is my beloved district, where I spent most of my life. So no photos of my favourite cities of Oslo and Tokyo.
There are two places that I call my hometowns. Warsaw, the city I was born in and Surakarta (Solo), the only other town that I ever lived in (so far). Solo made my “Indonesian identity” so in Indonesia I’m always saying “I’m from Solo” even though the coming reactions for such an answer aren’t nice (for me).
Well, enough of the rambling, it’s time for photos. New photos from my old collection. ;)
John Paul II St. (ulica Jana Pawła II) in Warsaw, the boundary between Wola (on the left) and Sródmieście (city centre) districts. Full of shops and bars (Polish and international cuisine).
One of the main streets of Wola district.
The monument of Street Band in Praga district of Warsaw. It’s operated by SMS and play a popular Warsaw song. It’s behind the cathedral (the zoo stop). Street bands are still popular in Warsaw and mostly on weekends you can even hear them playing in the neighbouring courtyard (not only in Praga), under your windows. Be sure to throw them down some money.
Main (one-way) street in Solo. It’s normal to see people eating by the road, on the pavement – sitting on a carpet.
It’s just several hours without the cars/scooters on the main street of Solo.
Night Market in the city centre of Solo. You shouldn’t have any doubts which is the main means of transport. ;)
Entrance to the market near kraton (palace) in Solo.
This street is actually around the ISI (art institute) in Solo. The gates built for the Independence Day, also serve as address plates. For a bit, I lived close by. ;)
